Design

Forget the old one that looked like a dressed-up Nissan. The 2026 X-Class has real Mercedes DNA now. Huge grille with the giant three-pointed star, sharp LED headlights that stretch almost to the fenders, and a body that screams “I cost more than your house.” It rides on 20-inch or optional 22-inch wheels and comes in lengths that actually fit American driveways and job sites. You can get it in regular cab, extended cab, or crew cab with a 5.5-foot or 6.5-foot bed.

Engine

No weak four-cylinders here. The base engine is a 3.0-liter inline-six turbo diesel making 282 horsepower and a massive 457 lb-ft of torque – perfect for towing up to 12,600 pounds. Want gasoline? Step up to the X-Class 550 with a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 pumping out 496 horsepower and 516 lb-ft. Mercedes says a plug-in hybrid version is coming late 2026 that could push over 700 total system horsepower. Every model gets a 9-speed automatic and standard 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

Mileage

The diesel is the fuel-sipper: Mercedes claims 24 mpg city and 31 mpg highway. The V8 drops to around 16 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, which isn’t bad for something this fast and heavy. The upcoming hybrid should easily beat 35 mpg combined once it arrives.

Smart Tech

Inside feels like an S-Class that can haul lumber. 12.3-inch driver display and a massive 14.4-inch center touchscreen running the latest MBUX system with “Hey Mercedes” voice control. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system come standard on higher trims. You even get augmented-reality navigation that paints directions right on the live camera feed.

Features

Level 2+ autonomous driving, 360-degree cameras, air suspension that can raise or lower the truck by 4 inches, and a trick Multi-Tailgate that opens like a regular tailgate or swings sideways like a door. There’s also an available 240-volt power outlet in the bed strong enough to run power tools or welders.

Price

Pricing starts at $62,900 for the base X-Class 300d diesel. The loaded X-Class 550 First Edition will top $105,000 before options. That puts it right against the Ford F-150 Raptor, Ram 1500 TRX, and the new Toyota Tundra TRD Pro – but with way more luxury and German engineering.
